Communing with Nature

My first nature encounter today was outside Newbury St.'s Burberry store. This PETA activist was wearing nothing but some flesh-colored underwear and the signature "Burberry plaid" print painted on her body to draw attention to the luxury company's use of animal fur. She is holding a sign that reads "When Plaid Goes Bad."
Boston Commons had some nature of a more tame variety. The well-known swan boats were out on the lake... don't worry mom, I will save this activity for your visit, I know this sort of thing is right up your alley. Some geese were protecting their eggs and babies which proved to be humorous, especially when the father goose chased down a dog that apparently seemed threatening.

First Day!

To the left is my bedroom... to the right is the front of my apartment complex. Today was my first real day, since I got in around 8 pm last night. I hit up Bed, Bath and Beyond in the Landmark Center shopping center next door and then the Shaw's Grocery Store... also right around the corner. Once I was all set-up and unpacked I decided to walk towards downtown. It's game day for the Red Sox so the streets around Fenway Park were packed with people and vendors. I apparently was the only person who didn't get the memo that you had to wear a Red Sox shirt. I didn't take a picture of all the craziness because I was already getting weird looks as it was.

From Fenway I walked the sidewalk that parallels the Massachusetts Turnpike... not very scenic but necessary. Here' a picture at the corner of Bolyston St. and Hemenway St. with the some of financial center buildings in the background. The Berklee School of Music near here. As you can see a bird flew right between me and the Prudential Center.

I randomly came across the Christian Science buildings and churches where there is a reflecting pool and fountain. A bunch of cute little kids were running around in their underwear through the water.

This is at the far end of the reflecting pool looking back towards some of downtown. I don't really know much about the Christian Science religion but they have a beautiful complex. If you want to learn more visit http://www.tfccs.com/index.jhtml;jsessionid=DCA1EUFCEUUSDKGL4L2SFEQ
I am practicing my photography skills so I can impress Emily one day.
So that's it for now. Most posts won't be this long but until my job starts I have lots of free time and plenty of opportunities to explore.
